The West Berkshire Golf Club, almost as old as the course itself, arranges and manages Club competitions, inter-club matches and other events, including the Captains' Charity Day and the Kerridge Pro-Am.

The Club enjoys what amounts to a privileged customer status with the course operators. Arrangements for the Club's use of the course and other facilities is governed by a renewable annual licence.

The Club is run for its Members by a General Committee elected from the Membership. Subcommittees include a Handicap Committee, appointed to ensure that the Members' handicap information is kept up to date and in line with The Council of National Golf Unions.

The Club is affiliated to the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Union of Golf Club (BB&0) and conducts its affairs in accordance with rules and guidance, as appropriate, from:

. the English Golf Union (EGU)

. the English Ladies Golfing Association (ELGA)

. the Royal and Ancient (R&A)

The course is only really busy on Sundays if there are Men's competitions; these may involve about 25% of the membership and are vital to the viability of both Club and Course. That said, the GC is also concerned to look after the interests of those who do not want to participate in competitive golf and seeks to find a balance in availability of weekend casual golf tee-times, especially in the Winter months.

Competitions include Club medal and other competitions most weekends (Ladies on Saturdays, Men on Sundays), weekend and mid-week Men's, Seniors', Ladies' and Mixed matches for those Members who enjoy competitive inter-club matches. A number of Club mid-week competitions are also held and, in addition to these, there are several informal groups which meet regularly and would welcome new associates.
